This endocrine organ is responsible for producing melatonin that regulates sleep cycles and connects with the circadian rhythms. It is closely associated with the chakra of the third eye’s ability to perceive outside of the physical reality into dimensions beyond time and space. Often depicted by a circle of light surrounding the head, the halo in religious and spiritual art represents the active pineal gland in individuals.
